About
Dr. Sunhwa A. Nam
Dr. Sunhwa A. Nam is a computer scientist whose research sits at the intersection of AI systems engineering, software reliability, and responsible AI. Her work investigates how bias and uncertainty propagate through multi-stage machine learning pipelines, and how adaptive resource management strategies can make AI systems more robust and fair.
She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Ewha Womans University, Seoul, where her dissertation introduced a unified low-power technique for processor and memory management in real-time task scheduling — foundational work that has since evolved into broader AI workload optimization research. She also completed graduate study at the Illinois Institute of Technology, where her proposed dissertation focused on data dependency analysis in automated test generation.
Prior to founding Sun Research Lab, Dr. Nam served as a Patent Examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, where she examined applications in artificial intelligence and software systems. She has held academic appointments as Assistant Professor at Seattle Pacific University, Research Professor at Ewha Womans University, and Adjunct Professor at National Louis University, DigiPen Institute of Technology, and Sungkyunkwan University.
She is an IEEE Member and ResearchGate Member, and has presented her work at international venues including IEEE CCCI (Chongqing), IEEE CSDE (Australia), IEEE/ACIS ICIS (China), and the Korean Conference on Semiconductors.
